EuroSkills2025

Denmark is hosting the official European Championship for young skilled workers in 2025. EuroSkills will take place at MCH Exhibition Center Herning (MCH Messecenter Herning) from September 9 to 13, 2025. This event will feature around 700 skilled young professionals from across Europe competing for European Championship medals in 38 different professions at EuroSkills 2025.

More skilled workers and the green transition
EuroSkills 2025 presents a historic and unique opportunity to generate renewed interest in vocational education. Among the many attendees at EuroSkills2025 are tens of thousands of youths interested in education, experiencing the competitions, exploring various professions, and trying out the skills themselves 'live' in specific Try-a-Skill areas.

A primary goal of EuroSkills2025 is to increase interest in the various professions, as there is a looming shortage of skilled professionals in the coming years. This shortage poses a significant challenge for business growth, welfare, and the green transition.

EuroSkills Herning 2025 is supported by the Ministry of Children and Education, Herning Municipality, Central Denmark Region, the Confederation of Danish Industry, the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions, and SkillsDenmark.

Herning will host EuroSkills2025, where around 700 young people from all over Europe will compete. Chairman of the event Poul Nyrup Rasmussen admires good craftsmanship and looks forward to the championship, which will be the greenest ever

How can we get a sense of the excitement of EuroSkills?

"You need to have experienced a Skills championship to understand what’s at its heart. The competitors have everything at stake in these intense competitions, where the smallest mistake can cost you a medal. What all the competitors have in common is an enormous pride and dedication to their profession. It's impressive to be part of the excitement and energy that arises when the participants give their all in the pursuit of perfection. Sparks really do fly!"

Do you think EuroSkills motivates more young people to pursue vocational education and training?

"Absolutely! That's the whole idea of us hosting here in Denmark! Among other things, tens of thousands of students and other young people will be able to explore the exhibition halls at MCH Messecenter Herning and get a feel for the many professions on show. They will also have the opportunity to try out subjects and thus gain greater knowledge of and interest in the many exciting vocational training programmes on offer."

What impact can EuroSkills have on the field?

"EuroSkills2025 will strengthen the movement that the national “DM i Skills” competitions have been building for many years and it will increase interest in vocational education and training. EuroSkills2025 will also emphasise the fact that talented skilled workers are crucial for future welfare, business growth opportunities and the important green transition. But most importantly, we must show the country's young people that a vocational education can also be the path to an exciting and meaningful life - not least because a vocational education is an important frontrunner in the green transition."
