Jeff Buckley - Tribute Concert in Herning

Five of Denmark's most renowned singers honor the American singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley as they take the stage at MCH Herning Kongrescenter on Friday, January 3, 2025. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Buckley’s iconic album Grace. Talented artists Nicklas Sahl, Silas Bjerregaard, Kira Skov, Bjørn Fjæstad, and Ginne Marker will interpret the music and myth of Jeff Buckley, crafting a magical evening focused on both the human and musical aspects of his work.

’Grace’ - A Timeless Masterpiece

Grace, Jeff Buckley's unique debut album, has maintained its significance over the years and continues to resonate with new generations. Released on August 23, 1994, Grace was Buckley's only full studio album and celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2024. In its honor, an exceptional lineup of Danish singers and musicians will present Jeff Buckley – A Tribute Concert.

“For me, Grace is an unavoidable masterpiece that deeply moved me during my high school years with its raw expression and Jeff Buckley's exceptional voice,” says Silas Bjerregaard, one of the participating artists. “Buckley’s early death gave the album a mythical status, but even 30 years later, it stands as one of rock music’s most significant works, epitomizing the 90s.”

The evening also features an outstanding band, including bassist Troels Skjærbæk, guitarist Rune Kjeldsen, drummer Jesper Lind, and Henrik Lindstrand on keys, known from the rock band Kashmir. For Lindstrand, Grace holds special significance as well: “When I first heard the album in 1998, it washed over me with an intensity and soulfulness that still affects me today. Grace is more than a classic – it’s a timeless work.”

A Musical Legacy That Lives On

Jeff Buckley’s career was tragically cut short when he lost his life in a drowning accident on May 29, 1997, just three years after Grace was released. He left behind an unfinished album, My Sweetheart The Drunk, which was later released posthumously in 1998 as a collection of demos and sketches. Buckley's unique talent has influenced many great artists, including Thom Yorke, Chris Martin, and Matt Bellamy, and his music continues to inspire generations worldwide.

Jeff Buckley also mastered the ability to make other artists' songs his own, whether interpreting Edith Piaf, Nina Simone, Dylan, or Cohen. For this reason, his music and Grace still hold great significance 30 years after its release. Join us for an unforgettable evening and experience Buckley's songs in both familiar and newly reimagined versions on Friday, January 3, at MCH Herning Kongrescenter.
